Respond to your clients in their language

This has probably happened to you before: a client calls, starts off in English or Spanish, and suddenly there’s that awkward pause. Everyone’s searching for words, stumbling, and in the end, the real request gets missed… or worse, the call is lost altogether. 🤦‍♀️ I see this every day.

I often hear the same hesitation: “Do you speak French?” or “Can we switch to English?”. Many people hang up as soon as they feel they won’t be understood. Others give it a try, but you can sense the frustration: questions get misunderstood, answers are off track, appointments are missed. Just a simple “hello” in the wrong language and everything can go wrong.

When a client feels understood, they stay. It’s as simple as that. A smooth conversation, in their own language, immediately feels more human. It prevents misunderstandings, reassures people, and above all, saves everyone time. You don’t lose leads just because a detail was missed. You probably know the stress of an incomprehensible voicemail, or a prospect who never calls back.

In some sectors, such as real estate, every call counts, and the language barrier can be costly.

When you’re not available, I welcome your clients in their language, without hesitation. I respond naturally, ask the right questions, and truly listen. If reassurance is needed, I offer it. I take accurate notes on what matters, without missing the essentials. Afterwards, I send you a clear, straightforward summary ; no grey areas.
